Lately I've been having the best time browsing through the U.S. National Archives pictures on Flickr. In the 70's, the EPA asked freelance photographers to document daily living in America and how environmental issues affect people's livelihood, calling the project Documerica. I have always believed that I was born in the wrong era, and these pictures absolutely back up that. I love the ethereal feel, and honesty that are in these pictures. Here are a few of my favorites, however I urge you to take a look at the program, as there are some powerful pictures that I think can resonate with everybody.

Yes, yes I know. Everybody will be talking about their New Years goals and resolutions. Nothing new here, but I am hoping that if I post them, I may actually take them serious this year. Not that my goals are necessarily serious goals, but they are actually things that I can achieve and feel good about. They might not be the most creative, or different, but they are important to me. So here goes!

1. Take more time to pamper myself. I often get lazy about a daily routine. I'm not exactly the most girly person, but I would enjoy to spend a little more time gettin' gussied up, and experimenting with different hair on a daily basis.

2. Save money. This one is pretty broad, but I find myself spending money on ridiculous things, and living paycheck to paycheck is ridiculous. I want to eat at home more often, and only buy clothes that I really need. Also, in order to do this I will need to stop shopping/hoarding at Target. Seriously.

3. Spend quality time with new friends, and take time to catch up with old friends. Since moving to Boise, I've met some fabulous people, but I often opt to stay in, at home, in sweats, rather than go out and see my lovely friends. I need to branch out and be more social in order for Boise to feel like home. I also need to take the time to catch up with my childhood friends whose friendship I deeply cherish. This one shouldn't be too hard!

4. Document the year. For reasons unknown to me, I am the WORST at bringing my camera places. I want to do better documenting the great experiences that I have in 2012. Maybe I'll even share them with you guys! :)

How was your Christmas? Charles and I ran around to all his family goings-ons and ATE. Who knew that eating was such hard work? We both had a blast giving our gifts to his family, and catching up on all the latest news. And I don't think I'll be able to eat for 2 days!

For the first time in my life, I am spending the Holidays away from my family. At first, I was having a difficult time accepting that Christmas would be different this year. However, after a bit of thinking, and some positive reinforcement from Charles and my momma, I have accepted the fact that different isn't always a negative thing. Although I would have loved to spend Christmas at home in Oregon, I'm excited to start new traditions and share the ones that are dear to my heart. Charles already know that, much to his dismay, we WILL be eating copious amounts of cinnamon rolls and orange danishes on Christmas morning. I am so thankful to have Charles' family to help me out during this strange Holiday season, and although the Christmas spirit is lacking in my heart, and I'll be missing my family like crazy come Christmas Day, I'll also be counting my blessings. To all of you who are fortunate enough to spend Christmas with your Family, cherish it. Take pictures, tell jokes, enjoy each other's company. Merry Christmas everyone!

Not a lot has been going on in my life, hence the lack of posts. Not necessarily a bad thing, but rather, consistant. Last night I experienced my first ever real work Holiday party. I wasn't sure how it was going to pan out, but turned out ok. Thank God there were people that were making fools of themselves to keep the attention away from me :) It was a fake casino theme, with a raffle at the end. I spent the night sipping vodka soda and playing blackjack with Brittany, and won a Kindle Touch in the raffle. Not too shabby for my first go-around!

In other news, I finally finished my first, real life crocheted hat. There is definitely room for improvement, but I love it so far. I used this pattern and it's big, comfy, cozy and purple. My fave. I'm hoping that I can learn more and more to take on some more complex projects in the near future, but for now I'm giving my fingers a break for a couple days.

I've been used to lazy dazy, do-whatever-I-wanna-do days, and I'm slowly getting used to having a real LIFE where I have responsibilities. So bear with me. I'm working on getting blending work and fun, and hopefully my new job and helping with Wintry Market will open up possibilities for myself in the long run.

How to Make Individual Sized Sun Tea

Every time I went up to my parents house this summer, I would pour myself a tall glass of sun tea. My mother would make it in this huge glass pickle jar (we are talking like restaurant size, 500 count pickle jar) so it would make a big enough batch for the whole family to have seconds. Not only is it super refreshing when the temperatures are high, but it's a welcome alternative to sugary sodas and other drinks you can buy else where. However, when my parents moved back to Oregon (lucky!!) I was sorely missing ~~the tea~~ them, so I decided to take matters into my own hands. It is super easy to make, and I love having a jar in the fridge for those "It's really 100 degrees AGAIN?!" sort of days. It happens a lot here in Boise. Here's how to do it:

Grab a jar with a lid (old juice jars work fantastically! and fill it almost to the top with water. I used 3 tea bags, but feel free to use more or less depending on how strong you like your tea! At this point, it's a good idea to add sweetener if you like, because the heat of being in the sun will help the sugar dissolve. Throw the lid in and set it in the sun! Keep checking back to see if it has steeped fully. I just bring it in when it looks good :) Keep in the fridge until cool enough to drink.

I usually make plain 'ol unsweetened black tea but here are a couple variations:
-Green tea with strawberries/blueberries/lemons.
-Earl grey tea with vanilla and a little bit of milk.
-Black tea with mixed berries.
-Brew double strength black tea to mix with lemonade.

Enjoy! And fingers crossed for temperatures in the 80's!

On rare occasion, Charles's uncle asks me to watch his store. It's a hunting and construction clothing store, and I stick out like a sore thumb. Although, being unemployed, it's a welcome way to earn a couple dollars.

To pass the time, I've been reading incessantly on my Kindle. I'm always guilty for not reading bestsellers. I convince myself that I won't like popular books, just quirky ones, but time after time, I prove myself wrong. Just like today:I just finished Water for Elephants and it was fantastic. I didn't want it to end. I won't give anything away but the culture of train circus's was so engrossing, I found myself wanting to join the circus. Although not feasible, a girl can dream, right?! If you've held off reading it, I completely recommend it. Especially before seeing it on film.

How to Stay Cool in a Heat Wave

In case you live somewhere that could occasionally get heat waves, or experiences the season "summer", here is a list I have compiled of ways I've witnessed people trying to beat the heat! Some very creative ideas if you ask me.

Seen at my local grocery: After dressing all 5 of your kids, in their nicest swim apparel, pile them up in your van and take them to the deli of your local supermarket. Don't wear shoes though. It's WAY too hot. The supermarket will be nicely air conditioned and most likely there will be free soda refills (ALL DAY!!). Your kids will be cool, hopped up on corn syrup and making everyone's life in that super market a living hell. Bonus points: Only wear your swimsuit as well.
Demonstrated by my cow neighbors: Find a nice canal, pond, stream, etc, and sit. Just take a seat. Not only will you stay cool all day, but you don't even have to worry about getting up to go pee! You can even stay there for 5-6 hours at a time. Occasionally let out a sound (preferably a mooooooo) to let everyone know you are still there. If a car drives by, stare at them with intent and look at them like, "Whatchu lookin' at?!".
Seen downtown Boise: Sometimes people don't feel like beating the heat, or want to seem tough like it doesn't affect them. In that case, grab your old rollerblades from 7th grade, strap them on, grab your warmest trench coat, and go for a spin! Not only will people be able to smell you coming, but they will look at you in awe and wonderment. Bonus points: Make your final destination a nudie club.

Or, just do what I do: Live in your boyfriend's tie-dye boxers, sit in front of a fan, and eat pineapple popsicles. YUM!

My friend Ashley's birthday is today (HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!) and she's getting married this weekend. What a week to celebrate! A group of us girls are going out for margaritas tonight to start the festivities.

I made her a card using different papers that I had on hand (including this AMAZING heart/polaroid paper from this collection). I think it turned out great. Handmade cards have to be one of my favorite things.

I've noticed recently that I have had some fresh faces visiting Margo & Betty. Welcome! I thought in celebration of my little blog slowly growing up, I would share with you guys 5 rando facts about me, to get to know me better. Ok, here goes!

1. In school I was a TOTAL goody-two-shoes. I never got detention and only got sent to the principal's office once with a couple friends because this kid changed the words to Yankee Doodle in choir. I'm not going to tell you want it is, because in hindsight it was completely weird and gross, but we couldn't control ourselves laughing and Mr. Meyer didn't want any part of it. I still am kind of a goody-two-shoes. I hate getting in trouble.

2. I am all sorts of nostalgic. I love when something reminds me of my childhood, or of a great moment in the past. I also love the nostalgic feeling of old photographs, before there was Photoshop or digital photography.

3. My favorite movie growing up was hands down Pete's Dragon. I would act out every scene and sing every song. I often dreamed of living in a lighthouse. I think that I can blame my love for quirky movies to this. I haven't met anyone else that thinks that this movie was as great as I did.

4. I am messy. And not the little piles here and there messy. I have to take a day each week to clean up all the little messes that are around our house, which then makes me happy that the house is clean. But it doesn't stay that way often. That's why you will probably never see the inside of our house!!

5. I was vegetarian for 6 years, but within the last 2 years I have kind of fallen off the wagon. The reason I ate that way was not necessarily all for animal's rights, but more in the way that how animals are processed in our food system. Yuck. Since I met Charles though, I've been eating more meat.

Ok! Hopefully that gives you a little tiny insight into the life of Anna. I would love to know more about you guys, so if you feel so inclined, let me know a little fact about you!

Eeek! It's Friday! This week has flown by, but I'm getting more organized as the week goes by. I've jotted a couple things down that I want to get done in the near future that would greatly help my daily life/blogging, that I've been putting off! 1. Bring my SLR everywhere! I mean EVERYWHERE! I have gotten lazy relying on my iPhone for pics, which I love, but I want to be able to take high quality pictures and practice makes perfect! 2. Get bike tire fixed. I was riding around Boise like a crazy woman on my bike (we have a great greenbelt along the river), and then my back tire went flat. There are more photo ops when you ride your bike, too! 3. Visit all of the local markets. We have quite a few weekly markets here in Boise, and I always neglect or forget to visit them. I have lame excuses you don't want to hear...haha. I want to visit them and buy some cool Boise made gear and yummy produce!

I'll keep ya updated on my progress with my 3 (really strenuous) goals! ;)

guide to boise // Alive After 5, July 6th, 2011

Yesterday I ventured out of the farmhouse to meet up with a couple friends at Alive After 5, a big party that happens every Wednesday in the summer in Downtown Boise at the Grove Plaza. Each week, vendors set up booths, kiddos run through the fountain, and they set up a stage for music acts from all over the country. Last night Honey Island Swamp Band played, and they were great. Despite being 97 degrees out, they had people out of the shade, dancing to their twangy New Orleans tunes. We danced a little bit before the heat got the best of us so we had to find ~~a happy hour~~ some AC. I highly recommend checking out Alive After 5, just keep a couple things in mind:

It gets HOT, hot hot hot, HOTTT! Bring your own water, or bring extra money to buy overpriced bottled water. If you can't hack it, (come on, we aren't in Arizona here people!) check out the local shops! Try and pick out the ones with AC. :) There are some great ones really close by.
Beer is spendy. Check out a happy hour at the endless local restaurants within a couple blocks of the Grove Plaza. Maybe you can even find one of my favorites on tap!
Bring yo' dancin' shoes! Don't be afraid to dance! You came to hear the music, right? So might as well give the band pittin' out because of the heat some love. :)

Side Note: Being relatively new to Boise (within the last 3 years), I've decided I'm going to take it upon myself to scope out cool Boise goings-ons, businesses, areas, etc. This city continues to surprise me, and I constantly tell myself that I should have explored this city more in depth as soon as I moved here! loving! // summertime beers

One of my newest favorites, Summer Honey Ale by Big Sky Brewing Company in Montana. Charles picked this up for our latest camping trip and it was pretty tasty! When I'm camping I tend to go for a lighter, easy to drink beer, and this hit the spot! It has a bit of sweetness, but not enough to turn me away. Pretty easy to drink (dangerous!) Big Sky has some other great beers that we enjoy: Trout Slayer and Moose Drool.

Twilight Summer Ale by the wonderful Deschutes Brewery in Oregon is definitely a summer staple. You might recognize Deschutes from their Black Butte Porter or Mirror Pond Pale Ale, two of their more popular beers. Twilight has a citrus-y twist but is balanced with the taste of the hops. As the website puts it, "lighter, yet full-flavored" beer. I like to enjoy this one while BBQing at home, or hanging out with friends. P.S. The Deschutes website is worth a look in itself...very cool.

Rounding out my favorites is one that I have only found at my favorite place to eat in Boise, Bittercreek Ale House. Pursuit of Hoppiness by Grand Teton Brewing in our very own Victor, Idaho is absolutely delicious. It has notes of caramel as well as citrus fruit and pours a dark red color. It's also a little sweet, just to make it maybe a bit too easy to drink. Every time we eat at Bittercreek, I always have to have a glass of this beer. Ok by me!

weekend // The 4th!

The 4th of July has to be one of my favorite holidays, mostly because it doesn't require any sort of planning, or endless shopping, and because it involves fireworks. We spent the weekend camping with my brother and a couple friends and then celebrating with co-workers on the 4th! I couldn't have asked for a better way to spend it. We were surrounded by people brave enough to set of TONS of "illegal" fireworks, so we had our own 360 degree firework show. It was pretty fantastic.

We also played Corn Hole, which if you are unfamiliar, is incredibility addictive! It involves throwing bean bags onto a slanted board with a hole. Pretty much like horseshoes, but a little less dangerous if there is drinking involved. (Especially if I'm playing!!)

I also made a batch of red, white and blue cupcakes to celebrate. Mmm, mmm, mmm! Delicious!

dutch oven cookin'

Not one camping trip has gone by where Charles casually brings up how much he wants me to try dutch oven cooking. And not one camping trip has gone by where I casually "forget" that he brings it up. Honestly, and for a reason unknown to me, it scares the crap out of me throwing ingredients into a big cast iron pot and burying it in the ground. Scary and unsanitary. Unfortunately, Charles was on his game this last weekend. My parents were planning on visiting us for the day and cooking us dinner (thanks, Mom!) so Charles and I decided on a dutch oven breakfast. I scoured the web for some breakfast recipes and nothing really hit the spot, so I took a leap of faith and decided to make my own dutch oven breakfast recipe. Here's how the whole shebang went down:

First, we Charles dug a hole in the ground a little bit wider and deeper than the dutch oven. We put briquettes on the fire we had going to get them nice and toasty, and when they were glowing, we covered the bottom with them. Then I sat the dutch oven in our little cooking hole and browned some bacon with the lid off. While the bacon was browning, I whipped up some scrambled eggs with onions and spices. We poured the eggs over the bacon, and grabbed our (cheater) Pillsbury biscuits and arranged them over our egg mixture. And now comes the scary part. I put the lid on, put some glowing red briquettes on the lid, and covered it with dirt. Ew.

We cooked the whole thing for about 25-30 minutes, or until I got too impatient, and we uncovered our concoction! It looked DELICIOUS! Charles was happy with a full belly, and I officially felt like a wild outdoors woman cooking in a dutch oven. I have officially gotten over my fear, and I'm excited to try some dinner recipes like beef stew or pot roast. The finished product, ladies and gents:

Here in Boise, we had the most fantastic thunder and lightening show last night. One thing I love about Idaho: those dry, desert summer thunderstorms. They are like nothing I have ever seen. I took this picture moments before it got goin'.

We had our first little taste of summer heat yesterday, and now I am itchin' for the hills. Charles and I are camping this weekend (surprise, surprise!) and I'm going to be dutch oven cooking for the first time. Keep your fingers crossed for me. Let's hope it turns out delish! Keep an eye out for the recipes I used and how it turned out, on Sunday.

Yes, I know. They are the dorkiest, ugliest, weirdest shoes you have ever seen. And I'll be the first one to admit that the first time I saw some outdoorsy dork wearing them, I didn't understand why they would put themselves through such embarrassment. However, within the last few months, I had been seeing them more and more often, and decided to do a little research. After reading reviews on different websites, I was hard-pressed to find a bad review other than, "The toes feel weird". (Ok, honestly, what do you expect?!) I also read that they were beneficial for the relief of many different foot problems such as bunions, plantar fasciitis, and neuromas, which I happen to have. On a whim, I decided to order some, just for the hell of it. What could go wrong?

(please disreguard the puffy ankle and dead grass...ok, thanks)

The verdict: I love them. I know that's what everyone says, but it's true. I have not had any pain from my neuromas since I have been wearing them, and hardly notice they are on my feet. Yes, the toes feel weird at first, and you will probably be wiggling your toes the first few times you wear them, but it's worth it. I don't have the guts (or patience to explain to people what they are) to wear them in public yet, but I have ran around the neighborhood in them, and taken them camping without a problem. They feel like you are barefoot, without having to worry about sharp rocks and sticks or hot surfaces. Highly recommended!

I spent this last weekend enjoying the time of friends and family in my hometown of Medford, OR. It's always a bittersweet visit, because I miss the area so much, but I have built a fabulous life here in Idaho. I was celebrating the graduation of my dear friend Jenna (congrats, girl!!) and getting a big breath of fresh mountain air. While I was there, we visited the coffee shop of my former (and favorite) high school teacher, Noble Coffee. Let me tell you. It was absolutely, 100% the BEST coffee I have ever had in my life. I've been craving it everyday since we visited it. So, without saying, if you are ever traveling through Southern Oregon, and are in need of a coffee break, stop at Noble and get your socks blown off. Literally. And then suffer because you cannot drink their coffee every single day, 3 times a day.

One of my all time favorite products for summer, especially if you are doing any sort of outdoor activities that involve water or sweating. This sunscreen comes in a really convenient spray can that can get all the little nooks and crannies, way better than traditional cream sunscreen. The mist is so fine that you don't feel greasy and oily after applying it. If you are looking for a sunscreen for everyday use, I also recommend Neutrogena Ultra Sheer. It doesn't even smell like sunscreen. Score!

Being a redhead, I have to be really conscience when I'm in the sun, unless I burn to a nice crispy lobster red color. If that ever happens (let's pray that it doesn't...) or even after a long day in the sun, I love slathering this aloe vera all over. It's a natural product which I love, and it doesn't feel sticky like a lot of other aloe vera gels that I have used in the past. Here's a trick: Keep a bottle of this goodness in the fridge to have an instant cooling lotion. Works fantastic!

Spend one cool summer night outdoors without bug spray, and I promise, scouts honor, that you will NEVER forget it again. Even wearing pants and long sleeve shirts those mosquito buggers know how to get to ya! Not to fear, this bug spray by NutriShield does the trick, and naturally! You can apply it whenever you need, there are no synthetic chemicals, it just uses smells from essential oils that mosquitos (and other little buggers) seem to not like. NutriShield also offers a campground/picnic formula with a spray bottle that covers more area.

And finally, lip balm. Probably 75% of the time we go on hikes or camp, I forget to put a lip balm on that offers SPF protection, and I end up with sunburned, cracked, flakey, and pretty gross lips for the next week. Not ideal. EOS has some of the best lip balm I have used, in a pretty dang cool container. Not only do I like the container for it's looks, but in hot weather, if it melts, I just let it cool off while keeping it upright and it melts right back into shape. I don't have to worry about having melted lip balm everywhere or stuck in the top of my cap. They offer many flavors, but this one (Lemon Drop) is the only one with SPF protection. I also recommend the Summer Fruit flavor.

Every summer Charles and I decide that we are going on all these great backpacking/hiking trips, but alas, they never happen. We get so caught up in other things, and time gets away from us without taking the trips we want to. But not this year! We are determined to make up for the last two summers, by grabbing the bull by the horns and getting it done! We've already taken a camping trip this year, as well as a nice little day hike we took this weekend. Things are looking up!
Here are a couple places that we are wanting to hike/camp/check out:

Idaho Centennial Trail - This is a 900+ mile trail that stretches the entire length of the State. Pretty dang cool if you ask me. The cool thing about it is that a section of the trail passes right through places that we like to camp and hike already, so it's only a matter of time before we tackle that section (not all 900 miles, silly)!
Rainbow Lakes - This is probably the most beautiful trip we will go on. Last year, Charles and I checked out the Trinity Lake campground, which is the trail head of this hike, and I have never seen such pristine and beautiful mountain lakes in my life. Although the campground at the Trinity's is more tailored to car camping with designated spots, which I'm not really into, the area is gorgeous. I'm really excited for this one, as there are about 6 lakes along this trail that are all fishable and I know will be as beautiful as the Trinity's!
There are also a whole bunch of hikes around the McCall area that I would LOVE to explore. McCall is pretty close to Hell's Canyon, which would also be a treat.

With a forecast of sun and 60 degrees, Charles and I decided we would spend our weekend camping. First trip of the season! I gotta say, though, that even after going once, I have the itch! Spending the day posted up in a reclining chair next to the river, reading, and soaking up the sun's wonderful rays is just about as close to heaven as I'm gunna get. We camped at our favorite spot, the South Fork of the Boise River. It is carved out of a big canyon, with huge campsites, and lots of wildlife (the friendly kind). Hopefully we will be spending most of our free time up here this summer!

it's a perfect day for...spring cleaning?!

Here at The Little Farmhouse, things have been a little out of control. First, our clothes washer started overflowing, then the water heater rusted out the bottom, and now the spiders have found a home with us. So, it seems as though some spring cleaning is in order. However, when you live on a dirt road in the middle of a hay field, with a dog, things aren't as easy as it seems. Dusting is a joke, spider traps are laughed at, and sweeping the kitchen floor is only productive for a good, oh, 5 minutes. But I'm not talking about cleaning the easy peasy stuff. I'm talkin' scrubbing down the shower, cleaning the baseboards, washing the windows; the stuff that gets put on the back burner but NEEDS to get done. Today is the day. Wish me luck.

Whoa! Holdup! Who put time on fast-forward?! I cannot believe it is almost half way through April. The last few weeks have been a complete whirlwind, so forgive me for neglecting M&B. So, as I'm ~~sipping~~ downing my coffee, let me leave you with a few things I have been inspired by over the last couple weeks.

Get this! Natural dyed Easter eggs. I think these look a thousand times better than the real thing. I haven't dyed eggs in YEARS. This will be exciting to do, except I'll let Charles eat the insides.

3 words: Holland Tulip Farm. Simply gorgeous. I would love to sit there, slow down and smell the tulips! Check out the overhead shots over at lemmemakeit.

This project is fantastic! And easy. I really would love to do this, I just gotta finish my other 2 (ok, 10) projects I already have going.

Can you hear me? It's me, Anna. And you are not doing good work helping me find a job. Actually, I haven't seen anything that you have done to help. Filling out the same info on piles and piles (ok, maybe a medium-sized stack) of job applications and writing a fantastic resume should have gotten me at least SOMETHING. But no. Nada, zip, zilch, nothing. I don't need anything fancy. Let's try a coffee shop, or maybe a little deli, and see how that works out. Maybe even a craft shop. I promise I will work hard, not talk about my embarrassing and odd obsession with Jersey Shore with my coworkers, and paint my fingernails when they chip. I'll even work weekends. I know that there are thousands of people that are on unemployment and applying for jobs left and right that they don't really want, but I'm the real deal. The real Mccoy, if you will. I actually DO need and want a job. Yes, you heard me right: I want to work. Crazy concept, huh? It's not fun seeing my bank statement tell me how much of a dork I am not having a job. And it tells me all the time. Trust me. Oh ya, it's been nice sitting at home crafting and taking pictures, but I can only take pictures of the barn in our backyard so many times before it becomes dumb and pointless. And my fingers hurt from crocheting so much. My boyfriend thinks he is dating a grandma. Which I'm starting to feel like. And my dog is smelly which I don't want to be around all day, but that's another story. Anyway, let's get this show on the road. Throw me some rope, help me out a little bit! I would really appreciate it.

springtime

Griffin and I always spend a few minutes a day playing fetch. It is hands down his favorite time of the day. He can hardly contain himself! It's adorable. The last few days we've "fetched" it's felt like spring. Cloudy weather, cool breeze, rain drizzle. Nothing says it better to me. Growing up in Oregon, where it rains straight from October to April, this weather makes it feel like home. Even though it comforts me, I want it to be over! I want to camp and be outside, plant flowers and see green grass, and not have to wear sweatshirts! And I'm sure Griff is looking forward to playing extended games of fetch. :)

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Ours was filled with visiting family, taking the dog out to run around, and errands -- the usual suspects. Even though it was pretty drizzly and cloudy, you can definitely feel that spring is in the air! Finally! This morning Charles and I ate bagel sandwiches and drank coffee while slowly getting ready for the day. The perfect Sunday morning!

Griffy spends the better part of his days looking out the window waiting for birds to fly by. It's his favorite pastime. Every once in a while we will have a little covey of quail walk down our driveway, and Griff goes wild. It's the little things in life, right?

recipe: german panaroos

German Pancakes, Dutch Babies, Oven-Puffed Pancakes

Ever since I introduced these tasty little morsels to Charles, he requests them at least once a week, which is fine by me. They are DELICIOUS! And easy. Which in our house, are the two prerequisites for a meal. And, don't ask me why he calls them panaroos. I have no idea. He makes up nicknames for EVERYTHING.

(Recipe after the jump...)

Ingredients:

1 tbsp. butter

1/2 c. flour

1/2 c. 2% or whole milk

1/4 tsp. salt

2 eggs

easy...right!?

Preheat oven to 475 degrees. Put glass pie dish in oven to get all nice and toasty. Meanwhile, combine eggs (scrambled of course!), milk, salt and flour in a bowl. Once oven has heated, slap that slab of butter in the dish and let it melt, baby. After butter has changed from a solid into a liquid, swirl it around the dish to cover the bottom, and then pour the panaroo batter in the dish. Make sure that the pie dish is heated up when you pour the batter.

Cook for 10-12 minutes. The edges will puff up and when they are brown and the middle is crackled, twa-da! They are done. Get ready to chow.

These aren't very sweet when they are plain, and have a delicious dense, egg-y flavor. We like to sprinkle them with a little powdered sugar and cinnamon, but berries, cooked cinnamon apples, or bacon are also deeee-lish!

Unemployment So Far:
1st week: Awesome! Sleeping in, getting to make myself breakfast every morning, taking Griff out on walks, staying up late...I could get used to this!

2nd week: No food, yet no money, bored, house is a mess, need to redecorate.

So, I'm making a granny square blanket. I'm using 6 colors for the insides and a dark purple around all the edges of each square. I'm LOVING how it's turning out. And it will look darling in the farmhouse. :)
